I’m sure it’s been said once, but I’ll say it again. Hamilton isn’t the only show on Broadway giving us a history lesson. We’ve grown accustomed to seeing Adrienne Warren as part of Broadway Black’s version of The Justice League, charged with telling the forgotten story and historical significance of Eubie Blakes, Noble Sissle, F.E. Miller, and Aubrey Lyles, and the show that took 1921 by a storm.
Adrienne Warren is meeting us on a smaller stage. This time Feinstein’s/54 Below. And she’s serving us sultry jazz realness as part of “Charlie Rosen’s Broadway Big Band Concert.” The event will be July 18 at the legendary space.
17 musicians strong, Drama Desk Award nominee, Charlie Rosen, leads a full-size jazz orchestra playing both classic and modern show tunes with a flair.
Who doesn’t love a new arrangement of your favorite show tune!?
Adrienne joins Gerard Canonico (Spring Awakening), Nicholas Christopher (Hamilton), Hannah Elless (Bright Star), Santino Fontana (2013 Tony Nominee for Cinderella, The CW’s “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”), Julia Mattison (Godspell), Lauren “LOLO” Pritchard (Spring Awakening), and Benjamin Walker (American Psycho).
Adrienne Warren is currently starring as “Gertrude Saunders” and “Florence Mills” in Shuffle Along, for which she earned a 2016 Tony nomination. Warren made her Broadway debut in Bring It On: The Musical and is featured in the first season of “Orange Is The New Black.”
Here at Broadway Black we love Adrienne for her beautiful spirit, voice, and smile. Catch her before it’s too late! Shuffle on along to the Music Box Theatre by July 24th. You’ll be glad you did.
