Cast of Color Purple and Hamilton Pay Tribute to Prince on Broadway

Just hours after sadness consumed our hearts over the death of legendary performer Prince, The Color Purple cast gathered together for an impromptu performance of the legendary song, “Purple Rain.” Here is a clip of some very kind words delivered by none other than his friend and collaborator, Jennifer Hudson, along with castmates Cynthia Erivo and Danielle Brooks.

The cast of Hamilton also honored Prince’s innovative and matchless contributions in their own celebratory style led by lots of jazz splits and leg swings. You can view the clip here:

One thing is for sure, there will never be another legend as great as Prince. The respect and admiration of the musical genius and his contributions to the industry will indeed live on forever as he has impacted diverse crowds and influenced just about every artist that we admire today! While we are saddened by his passing, we are grateful to have his music as inspiration and encouragement when we need a release, uplifting, or just the right to party like it’s 1999.
