2015 Theatre World Awards

Artists of color shined at the 2015 Theatre World Awards this week with Daveed Diggs (Hamilton) and Karen Pittman (Disgraced) among the recipients of this prestigious honor. Now in its 71st year, the Theatre World Awards honor six actors and six actresses every year who make their Broadway or Off-Broadway debut at a private ceremony followed by an afternoon event. 12 previous winners present the new honorees with their awards and among them this year was Vivian Reed (Bubbling Brown Sugar). Also honored this year with the John Wills Award for Lifetime Achievement was the legendary Chita Rivera. The other recipients include Geneva Carr (Hand to God), Megan Fairchild (On the Town), Robert Fairchild (An American in Paris), Collin Kelly-Sordelet (The Last Ship), Sydney Lucas (Fun Home), Benjamin Scheuer (The Lion), Alex Sharp (The Curious Incedent of the Dog in the Night-Time), Emily Skeggs (Fun Home), Micah Stock (It’s Only A Play), and Ruth Wilson (Constellations).
