Waitress, the musical based on the 2007 film, will end its run in January 2020, according to The Hollywood Reporter. January 5th, to be exact, will be the final performance at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre ending the show with 33 previews and 1544 performances total by that time.

Waitress tells the story of Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of a way out of her small town and rocky marriage. Pouring her heart into her pies, she crafts desserts that mirror her topsy-turvy life such as “The Key (Lime) to Happiness Pie” and “Betrayed by my Eggs Pie.” When a baking contest in a nearby county — and a satisfying run-in with someone new — show Jenna a chance at a fresh start, she must find the courage to seize it. Change is on the menu, as long as Jenna can write her own perfectly personal recipe for happiness.

Waitress opened on Broadway April 24, 2016, and became the first musical in Broadway history with an all-female principal creative team with a score penned by Sara Bareilles, book by Jessie Nelson direction by Diane Paulus and choreography by Lorin Latarro. Besides Hamilton, Waitress is the only musical from the 2015-2016 season still running.

Composer and lyricist Sara Bareilles said:

“It is such a bittersweet moment to say goodbye to our home on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theater, but I am reflecting upon this enormously magical time with a tremendous amount of gratitude…and smiling through tears…”

” … Alas… everything changes. Sugar, Butter, Thank you.”

Some of the notable talents who have been or will be in Waitress include Al Roker,  Jason Mraz, Jenna Ushkowitz, Jeremy Jordan, Jessie Mueller, Joey MacIntyre, Keala Settle, Kimiko Glenn, Nicolette Robinson, Shoshana BeanTodrick Hall, Will Swenson (Audra’s Husband), and more!

Shoshana Bean is currently starring as Jenna until July 21st. Write that down, that’s important.
